Munich Airport, 1992
Construction of a ramp equipment station
Munich Airport, with a total area of approximately 15 km², consists of a series of individual buildings. The result of architectural competitions, several renowned architectural firms were commissioned to realise the buildings.
The Heese architectural firm was awarded the contract for the ramp equipment station on the west apron. This is part of the passenger handling area at the heart of the airport. It covers a gross floor area of approximately 11,500 m² and was completed in time for the airport’s opening. The complex houses a 5,000 m² storage hall for apron equipment and a fuel station. It also contains office, social and workshop rooms as well as airport-specific supply and disposal facilities. Apron movements are controlled in coordination with the main tower via a tower integrated into the building.
Our contract included general planning services, including structural design, planning of technical equipment and other technical specialist planning.
