Conversion and extension of a residential complex
The dormitory of the former Institute for the Hearing Impaired in Gottfried-Keller-Straße in Straubing is being renovated to improve its energy efficiency and converted and expanded into a residential complex with 179 residential units. The construction project, which had been interrupted by the previous owners, was taken over by the developer in 2025 and is a key pillar of urban renewal in southern Straubing. The mix of apartments includes a variety of different types of one- to four-room apartments. The shallow depth of the building allows most apartments to receive natural light from at least two directions.
The 7,000 m² gross floor area extends in a semicircle over four to eight above-ground and two underground floors, with six different entrances and a central two-storey parking deck.
ABH is responsible for project management and approval planning for the necessary alterations.
