Papierfabrik Louisenthal B5, 2020
Plant Expansion
The Louisenthal paper mill is located in Gmund, Upper Bavaria, in the Tegernsee Valley. The work included the construction of the new hall B5 in the southern part of the factory site. Security aspects were crucial for the project, since the factory also produces, among other items, official documents for the Federal Republic of Germany and other EU states.
To increase production capacities at the site, the new building B5 will extend the existing hall B4 to the north. The volume connects to the existing building with its long side and has a total area of 3,600m² GFA. The building has six floors, but the production areas are mostly double height. The new building is connected to the existing building on several levels. A potential extension to Halls A4/ A5 is already considered in the design of the foundation.
There are some technical areas in the building that serve both the existing B4 hall and the new building. There are further production areas on the second floor. On the third floor, the products can be presented to visitors. Furthermore, a glass wall allows an overview of the production area. ABH provided the project planning and general planning.
